Welcome,
To The Charley Hoffman Foundation.
The mission of the Foundation is to help raise money and awareness for children’s organizations that provide a positive environment to better their future through education, sports, and health.
To date the CHF has donated nearly half a MILLION dollars since the Foundation’s inception in the Fall of 2009.
The Charley Hoffman Foundation was created by PGA TOUR® professional Charley Hoffman and his wife Stacy in 2009 to raise funds for charities benefiting children in their native and adopted hometowns of San Diego and Las Vegas. With the support of our local business partners, the Foundation has already collected over $150,000 to help create a healthy environment and a brighter future for local youth. Building on the success of our inaugural Charley Hoffman Foundation Pro-Am held in San Diego in the winter of 2010, the Foundation looks forward to furthering its mission through its first Pro-Am event in Las Vegas in October 2010. We hope that you will decide to join us in developing these two annual events.
The Charley Hoffman Foundation Story
Charley and Stacy have worked diligently over the course of the past three years to establish The Charley Hoffman Foundation. Based on the maxim “think local first,” the Foundation’s fundraising activities reward organizations benefiting young people living in San Diego and Las Vegas. A talented and dedicated group of people have been appointed to the Foundation’s Board of Directors, including trusted family members and friends who share the desire to provide a positive environment for children through education, sports, and health.
The Charley Hoffman Foundation held its first San Diego Pro-Am tournament in January 2010 at the beautiful Del Mar Country Club. Charley and Stacy were grateful for the help of local families and corporations. With the generous help of its sponsors, the event raised more than $100,000 for the San Diego Junior Golf Association. The Foundation is looking forward its third annual San Diego Pro-Am at the Del Mar Country Club on January 23, 2012. Past PGA TOUR® players that have participated include Nick Watney, Rickie Fowler and SDJGA alumni Pat Perez, Chris Riley, John Mallinger, Bill Lunde, and Craig and Kevin Stadler.
The Foundation hosted its second annual Pro-Am event in Las Vegas on September 26, 2011. The Charley Hoffman Foundation Las Vegas Pro-Am took place at TPC Summerlin, the same course that hosts Justin Timberlake’s Shriners Hospitals for Children Open, an official PGA TOUR® event. On the morning of the tournament, Charley provided a clinic to all participants in which he will share the secrets to developing a great golf game. Dinner and Auction were held at Mortons Steakhouse, where PGA TOUR Players served dinner. It was a great evening full of fun and great food while raising money for children’s Charities of Las Vegas. All proceeds from the Foundation’s Pro-Am and Celebrity Server event at Mortons Steakhouse benefited the following Las Vegas charities: Blessings in a Backpack, Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Goodie Two Shoes Foundation, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Las Vegas, as well as the Transportation Fund of the local Zelzah Shrine Temple. Each of the five charities received a check for $20,000.
Throughout the year the Foundation continues to identify organizations that fall under its mission statement. In the winter of 2011, the Foundation donated to Walking for Kids, an organization that raises money to help kids with disabilities from coast to coast.
We Need Your Help!
As a leader in the community we know you have many opportunities to give back and we hope you find the mission of the Charley Hoffman Foundation a cause you believe in and want to partner with us to help it grow in order to make a major impact on local children.
Charley and Stacy’s Story
Raised in Poway, California, the “city in the country” nestled in the foothills of the Cuyamaca Mountains just north of San Diego, Charley began golfing at the age of seven, with the encouragement of friends and family. Soon thereafter, he joined the San Diego Junior Golf Association, which provided him with the guidance that was instrumental in honing his skills on the course and learning the values of good sportsmanship and discipline. Charley went on to play golf for Poway High School, where he became the first two-time California State High School Champion in 1994 and 1995. At the age of sixteen, he became the youngest golfer ever to qualify for the Buick Invitational, San Diego’s annual PGA TOUR® event. In 1998 he was part of UNLV’s NCAA® Division I Men’s Golf Championship team and received an honorable mention to the All-American team by the Golf Coaches Association of America.
Following his graduation from UNLV in 1999, Charley spent six years perfecting his golf game while traversing the country as a member of the Nationwide Tour®, until he qualified to join the PGA TOUR® in 2006. He began his second season on the PGA TOUR® with a thrilling playoff victory amidst gale force winds at the Bob Hope Chrysler Classic in Palm Desert, California. Since joining the PGA TOUR®, Charley has posted 18 top ten and 41 top twenty-five finishes. Most recently, Charley won the 2010 Deutsche Bank Championship, tying the tournament’s 72-hole record of 22 under par, capped off by a 9-under 62 in the final round. By winning this second FedEx Playoff Event and finishing well at the PGA TOUR Championship, Charley secured fourth place in the year-long FedEx Cup race.
Stacy also grew up in Poway. She participated in a variety of extracurricular activities while at Poway High School including serving as Junior and Senior Class President. Stacy graduated from Boston University’s College of Communication with a degree in Public Relations. She has over ten years of experience in the Public Relations field. Throughout her career she practiced with firms in San Francisco, New York City and San Diego, where some of her clients included Microsoft, MasterCard, Sara Lee and Diageo.
Four years ago, when Stacy began traveling full-time with Charley she became involved with the PGA TOUR Wives, serving as Media Chair. She is currently holding the position of Vice President of Communications on the Board of Directors. Her experience with National and local media has helped create a strong media presence for the PGA TOUR Wives Association.
Stacy’s experience with event planning and media relations has allowed her to get involved with all kinds of charity work over the years. Charley’s golf career aside, she recognizes that her and Charley have both been fortunate to grow up with supportive families and given opportunities many children dream about. She feels privileged that her and Charley now have the ability to give back to others through the Charley Hoffman Foundation.
